thanks for your commentary on the image. It makes it very poignant. V

I love this one. When I first looked at it I thought it was watercolour, because the colours are so soft and muted. I love the atmosphere you have created.

Ida Eriksen replied:

thank you! It is part of the boardwalk in the little fishing village on the west coast. I partly grew up there. what used to be a vibrant town is now a ghost town slowly falling back into the forest and sea. Not much is left.

Artist's Description

a portrait of where I spent part of my youth in the central coast of BC, what was once a very vibrant community is now a ghost town and rapidly disappearing back into the forest. But I cherish the memories .

About Ida Eriksen

Ida Eriksen

I started drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil. Painting came later and became so much a part of who I am. I later studied art at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada earning a degree in Fine Arts first class honours. I have participated in a variety of shows over the years, in between working as a manager of the Graphics Arts Department for the Studentsí Society at the University of Victoria as well as running my own clothing design business. Since I retired early,I decided to devote myself to painting starting with various portraits of family.I then branched out to developing some narrative in my work. Lately I have been painting landscapes partially because of my love of nature and also my worry for our environment...
