Artist's Description

Two char women arm in arm, proudly holding the tools of their trade, this I painted in honor of my mother who worked so hard to keep the family together and going. She made sure we had what we needed and taught us we could get what we wanted out of life by working for it.

About Ida Eriksen

Ida Eriksen

I started drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil. Painting came later and became so much a part of who I am. I later studied art at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada earning a degree in Fine Arts first class honours. I have participated in a variety of shows over the years, in between working as a manager of the Graphics Arts Department for the Students’ Society at the University of Victoria as well as running my own clothing design business. Since I retired early,I decided to devote myself to painting starting with various portraits of family.I then branched out to developing some narrative in my work. Lately I have been painting landscapes partially because of my love of nature and also my worry for our environment...
